Before 1940, Haringzelles consisted of three farms bordered by low walls and hedges. Its inhabitants left shortly after 1940, when the German occupant decided to build the Todt battery. This battery fired shells at Allied ships passing through the Strait of Dover.

The woods were created from scratch by German troops, who transplanted adult trees from the forests of Boulogne and Desvres, in order to camouflage the blockhouses under construction.

This place, bursting with history, is well worth a stop before continuing on to the tip of Cap Gris-Nez.
